About the site

This fanlisting was adopted from Amanda and opened here on July 31, 2005. I believe the reason why I like Maglor is covered in the "about" section. ;)

The picture, of swans at sunset, is reminiscent of Alqualondë, the Swan Haven where the first Kinslaying took place. There is something final about the picture; the setting sun is mean to symbolize the end of Maglor's existence amongst his kind and also ties in with the line "nothing gold can stay" - the sunset is, after all, rather ephemeral.

Nothing Gold Can Stay is originally a poem by Robert Frost (I think you already knew that). It appears here because I found the use of "gold" here quite appropriate, since Maglor's mother-name basically meant that the sound of his harping was golden. Maglor was lost at the end of the first age - and indeed, nothing "gold" can stay.

Information was obtained from The Encyclopedia of Arda, Wikipedia and what I remember from The Silmarillion and The Peoples of Middle-earth, The History of Middle-earth volume 12. It is, however, written out and phrased by me. This fanlisting is powered by Enthusiast 3.
